Brooklyn to Connecticut Moving Company

Brooklyn to Connecticut is a long day for a moving truck. It has to cross the whole city before it even reaches the state line. Two Guys And a Truck Moving starts its trucks in Brooklyn, so we know how to get out of the borough early and keep the day on track.

We move you between Brooklyn and Connecticut. We do not do moves that start and end inside Connecticut.

The road out of Brooklyn

The Belt Parkway and the Jackie Robinson Parkway are closed to trucks and commercial vehicles. So are the Grand Central Parkway in Queens and the Hutchinson River Parkway in the Bronx. A moving truck has to use the Brooklyn-Queens Expressway (I-278) instead.

From Park Slope, Bay Ridge or Bensonhurst, the truck takes the BQE north through Williamsburg and Greenpoint into Queens. It crosses the RFK Bridge into the Bronx and joins I-95 north. From there, I-95 leads to Greenwich, Stamford, Norwalk, Bridgeport and New Haven. The Merritt Parkway is not an option, since trucks and commercial vehicles are banned on it.

The BQE is slow at rush hour. An early start on moving day can save a lot of time. We plan the start time when we confirm the job.

Brownstones, walk-ups and stoops

Many Brooklyn homes are brownstones or walk-ups. Stoops are steep, halls are narrow, and big couches may need to come apart. Tell us about the stairs, the turns and the biggest pieces during the estimate. We will plan the crew and the time for it.

Newer buildings in DUMBO, Williamsburg and Brooklyn Heights often ask for a certificate of insurance and an elevator booking. We provide COI.

Pickup dates and delivery dates

On a local move, you load and unload the same day. On a move between states, your paperwork has two dates: when we pick up and when we deliver. Short moves to Fairfield County are often one day. Moves to Hartford or eastern Connecticut may still be one day, or the delivery may be the next day.

Whatever the plan, the dates go in writing on the bill of lading. If we cannot deliver on the agreed date, we must tell you, under the federal rules.

Paperwork for a move across a state line

We are A & A Alliance Moving Inc, U.S. DOT No. 967970, MC-432549, and we are FMCSA-authorized to move household goods between states. You get:

  • A written estimate, based on a look at your things.
  • The FMCSA booklet "Your Rights and Responsibilities When You Move."
  • A bill of lading with your pickup and delivery dates.

Common questions

Do you move people from Connecticut to Brooklyn?

Yes. We pick up in Connecticut and deliver to your new Brooklyn home, walk-up, brownstone or elevator building.

How early does the truck start on moving day?

Most Brooklyn to Connecticut moves start in the morning to get ahead of BQE traffic. We confirm the time with you before the day.

Will you move me later from my Connecticut home to another one in the same state?

No. We only do moves with one end in New York or New Jersey.

We are licensed movers in both states (U.S. DOT No. 967970 · MC-432549 · NYSDOT 34875 · NJPM 000930) and a family business since 1999. Call (929) 339-6014 or send the quote form on our home page. Our company facts page lists our licenses and links.
